Everything was as advertised, something unusual these days. And the information packet that Bonnie at White Bay Villas supplied was dead on.
The cottage was clean, well supplied and pleasently airy. The trade winds kept the place very comfortable. Also, the recommendation for a jeep rental was perfect and well within reason on rates. We could not believe the dining - five-star dining beach side without all the formality. It was truly culinary ecstasy.
We can honestly say that this was the best vacation we've ever had and would (and will!) recommend White Bay Villas and the island to all.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the White Bay Villas in beautiful Jost Van Dyke. Renting wheels is definitely the quick way to see the island, and to buzz into "town".
It was a laid back island with a mix of beachbars (including the world famous "Foxy's"), restaurants, shopping, etc.
The accommodations offered a breathtaking view of White Bay and the beach, with plenty of hiking opportunities, and enough amenities to be comfortable in this casual island.
The staff at the villas was very accommodating and helpful. If you are looking for nice accommodations, a magnificent view, in a quiet Caribbean setting, away from the hassle of a busy island, this is a great find. We definitely would go back for more. |

I worked so hard on this vacation. Visited: August 2004 |

Approaching White Bay, it was clear that we were nearing paradise. The villas had spectacular views high on the mountainside overlooking White Bay. A sight unmatched! However, once inside the plantation villa - I burst out crying.
Bugs flying around like crazy - on everything. There was no air conditioning - and it was about the hottest place on earth in August. The doors had no screens, so bugs were everywhere. There was one TV with a handful of channels - and yes, why should you need TV in paradise? Because there was nothing open in August - no ice creamery - no bakery - the beach bars were inconsistent - and we couldn't sleep because it was soooo hot!
The beds had mosquito nets - my net was full of holes, so I had many visitors inside of the screen through the night. I was eaten alive even though I loaded myself with bug spray. We couldn't shut the doors to keep the bugs out or we would really bake.
We were not free to use water either - we were told immediately to ration it out - use it sparingly - don't constantly flush the toilets - oh yeah - don't flush the toilet paper - use the toilet paper receptacles in the bathrooms. Yuck!
All of the kitchenware had seen its better days, and we woke up every morning to counter tops of dead bugs - everywhere. The only coffee we got was if we made it, and forget fancy creamers.
I spent an easy $10,000 on this vacation for my family - and it was by far the worst. The least that White Bay Villas could have done was to arrange our arrival and departure with the water taxis and land taxis - but that was up to us, too!
The high points were - Mike and Sue, the caretakers - cool people where nothing was a problem, and Collin from JVD Watersports - do not miss him - and arrange to meet him immediately when you arrive.
Other than that - this remote location was beautiful - but for the money - go elsewhere. We all lost weight for lack of food, lack of sleep, and heat exhaustion. This was the first time ever that I could not wait to get home from! |

These are fabulous island accommodations for the discerning traveler! Visited: July 2004 |

My fiance and I stayed at White Bay Villas on Jost Van Dyke this past July. We were simply delighted when we walked up to our villa and saw the stunning view!
The villa was true "island" - it was white concrete with brightly colored pink shutters and doors. The walkway to the villa and the balcony are terracotta tiled. As we stepped down the path to our door, we felt like we were truly in paradise!
Once inside the villa, our breath was taken away with delight! It was simply, but tastefully decorated. The bed had a mosquito net, embellishing the island lifestyle and the floor in the villa was the same terracotta tile as outside. The thing that impressed us most was that when we stepped through the front door, we could see the sea right through the back doors!
Our balcony was equipped with a table and chairs and a lounge chair, which provided many an hour of relaxation. The sound of the sea lulled us to bed at night and greeted us in the morning.
The villa was up on the hill/cliff, so the view was simply spectacular. There were only six villas, I believe, which were spread out over a large piece of property up on the hill/cliff. The villas were very private, quiet and relaxing. You will not find gold plated faucets nor marble tile at White Bay Villas. However, they were rich with island luxury.
We are extremely picky people and do not like to stay at most places. Our taste is very particular. We felt like we were in heaven when we stayed at White Bay Villas. It provided an amazing sanctuary to relax, unwind and slow down. We couldn't have been happier and are most certainly planning on going on holiday to White Bay Villas at least once a year. If you go, you won't be disappointed! And, when you leave, you will feel more refreshed than ever! It is like a precious jewel! |

We had a wedding in Paradise! Visited: July 2004 |

We happened upon the British Virgin Islands quite by accident as we surfed the web for a remote spot for our small destination wedding.
From the moment we first called Bonnie at White Bay Villas...we knew we had found the place to go. She was so helpful in providing us all the information we needed to arrange our wedding as well as actually getting to the island from the airport in St. Thomas.
Upon arrival, we instantly knew what locals refer to as 'island time'. And we adjusted very quickly. We also learned that there were a few 'rules' that must be followed while staying anywhere in the BVI...such as keeping the septic tanks happy and flowing by not flushing the toilet paper. It was certainly different than we were accustomed to...but once again...we adjusted with little effort.
I guess many would call Jost Van Dyke 'remote'...maybe even 'rustic'. But we found the beautiful cottages of White Bay Villas so charming and peaceful. They were very clean, well appointed and comfortable. It was hilly on JVD...but not anything that I couldn't manage in a full formal wedding gown. An inexpensive Jeep rental was also a fun way to explore the backside of the island.
The resturants were plentiful on the island...but note that summer is called the 'off season' for a reason! Even so, we were treated to wonderful meals every day of our stay. We had the best BBQ ribs...ever! We could have opted to cook ourselves at the cottage...but we chose the lazy way of dining out every meal.
There were many choices...Corsairs (Tom made the best scrambled eggs and bacon and the best nachos), Abe's (best ribs and lobster), Foxy's (best flying fish sandwich), Ali Baba's (best pig roast) and several more.
It was a most memorable wedding/honeymoon/vacation. It was a great value all the way around...and we cannot wait to return to JVD and White Bay Villas and bring the rest of the family with us.
We give it our best recommendation...leave the rat-race at home...and go to JVD and White Bay Villas and enjoy some 'island time'. |

White Bay Villas is Paradise on Earth. Visited: June 2004 |

For my birthday, I traveled alone to Jost for a week-long stay. I couldn't imagine a better gift to myself!
Mike and Sue were so accommodating, the villa was stunning and beautiful, and White Bay itself seemed to have appeared from a story book.
While you're here, ask Greg to show you around (he does the water taxi and land taxi) and say "hi" to Tal down at Ivan's. Rent a dinghy from JVD Watersports and check out Little Spit (a tiny island with two palm trees and a beach - that's it).
Also, treat yourself to dinner at Corsairs or relax on the pristine beach in one of the many hammocks. And make sure you go out hiking, where you'll see lots of wild goats!
Jost Van Dyke isn't for everyone, thank goodness. If you need to be pampered, and prefer "touristy" to pristine, then stay away. JVD is not an amusement park, but a very real island.
Yes, there are bugs, so bring good bugspray and use the mosquito nets. And yes, you do not flush your toilet paper. But the bags are scented and it's really such a minor change you get used to it. If you ask me, two very minor trade offs for the most amazing place on earth. |

I don't know how anyone could possibly say anything bad about this place. We came here to White Bay Villas for our honeymoon and it was just what we were looking for. It wasn't crowded or touristy, but just enough people to meet and hang out with for a few days.
We fell right into the "island time" mode and had a fun - yet relaxing - time. The weather was great, the breeze through the villa was amazing, as were the people, the views and the food!
Mike and Sue were so helpful and very knowledgable about the island. Oh yeah, and the fresh bananas each morning tasted so yummy!
We had a great time just swimming off the shore, snorkeling around the reef, walking around the island and eating and drinking all of the delicious local food and drinks.
This honeymoon/vacation was definitely money well spent, and we will certainly be back! |

White Bay Villas in Jost Van Dyke was the best choice for our honeymoon. We could not have found a more suitable and incredible location.
We love the outdoors - hiking, snorkeling, and exploring. White Bay Villas provided us with a great location overlooking the most beautiful, white, sandy bay. The kitchens and grill allowed us to cook our own meals, yet we also took advantage of the local restaurants and live entertainment on the island.
It was such a relaxing getaway! Bonnie gave us all the information we needed to prepare for our week-long stay, and Michael met with us upon our arrival to offer his local knowledge.
The villas were private, yet the balcony view displayed all the amazing beauty around us. What an adventure! We will definitely return. |

We came to JVD for our honeymoon and Bonnie, Mike and Sue were absolutely wonderful! We had the most wonderful, fabulous time on the Island and have already promised ourselves a return trip within the next year. It truly is the most spectacular place on earth. I read where someone referred to JVD as "a little bit of heaven on earth" and I'd have to agree! The food was great, the drinks so refreshing and the people amazingly friendly. Thank you so much!

I just had the best time reading the review from the lady in New Jersey who stayed here in August, 2004. What a riot! So, you're going to go to a tropical island populated by 150 people in August and expect to be entertained? And not run into bugs? Did you forget about Disneyworld?
But seriously, I've been coming here for years and have stayed all over the island - and White Bay Villas are by far the most modern, comfortable, and clean accommodations with absolutely stunning views.
This is all due to the outstanding team of Sue and Mike who run the place - they pay meticulous detail to everything. Bedding is washed and placed the day you arrive so as not to be at all musty from being stored. The water is tested and treated constantly, and the grounds are spotless.
Also, Sue and Mike will bend over backwards to make your stay fabulous without invading your privacy. They're just very nice, very competent people who really understand the island. And you'll end up looking forward to seeing them again and again on future vacations.
Another must is a day with Captain Colin from JVD Water Sports. Sue and Mike can help you make arrangements. Colin is a treasure - whether you want to go diving, snorkeling, tour the islands by boat or go on a guided nature hike - he can do it all. He'll pick you up right off the beach in front of the villas and show you a fantastic day whether you're a family with kids or a honeymoon couple.
So go - enjoy - it's a lot better than Disneyworld! |

This had to be the very best vacation of my life. Traveling alone, I didn't quite know what to expect. But from the arrangements made by Bonnie at White Bay Villas to the hospitality of Sue and Mike when I arrived, I felt like family.
It was breathtaking to see the lit sails anchored on White Bay after rounding the crest of the hill on Jost. I sat on the front porch overlooking the this incredible scene, decompressing.
I extended my stay, as did so many others I met! White Bay on Jost seems to be the beach of choice for everyone, even the locals from the surrounding islands, due to its incomparable beauty.
I am home now and planning my next trip. |

The most lovely vacation I've ever spent. Visited: April 2003 |

We got back from White Bay Villas in April. We stayed at Sunset Villa West for five days and had an absolutely wonderful time.
We loved: the way the double doors opened out on to the terrace and the view, and the fact that you could keep them open all night, the fact that humming birds and banana finches and doves jumped about outside the windows and papaya trees!
We also enjoyed watching the pelicans swoop down into the sea at close quarters, and the fact that we could watch all the comings and goings of the boats from the terrace and the amazing food at the hotel up the other end of the bay. The weather was perfect (okay, it did rain but we didn't care).
Also, the feel of the house was wonderful and cozy. The shutters were held back with simple bits of wood and the views and breezes were constant because the windows could stay open. Ivan's bar was great.
Guests could snorkel at the bottom of the hill and spot amazing fishes (including squids dancing in a row and a turtle) without going more than a few yards.
Sue and Mike looked after us so well - every time we had a query, they were there to answer. We even got lent a book about the history of the island, and a snorkeling mask and got taken on a lovely day's sailing. They made us feel very at home (please give them our regards).
We went on to Virgin Gorda, which was lovely, but it took me two days to overcome the intense nostalgia for Jost van Dyke. I basically fell in love with the place.
Thank you for your hospitality. We hope that we will be able to afford to come back again some time. |

This place was recommended by a co-worker. I got a brochure, was hooked, and loved Bonnie and John, who worked with me on arrangements and were very patient as I asked lots and lots of questions.
The island and the beach were the most beautiful places I have ever seen. It was so nice just to lay on the beach and enjoy each and every beautiful day.
The Villa was incredible, and the one day it rained, we didn't care because the Villa was so beautiful to just hang out in. Mike and Sue were wonderful. The whole experience has left a huge smile on my face. I'll be back! |

After having a wonderful stay at Ivan's Campground for a few nights, we moved our family of five boys (ages 10 and under) up to the big house (Plantation Villa). It was a great setup with views that left you staring for hours; snowy-white beach with turquoise water by day and a gazillion stars by night.
The only bummer was when the cruise ships would embark upon "your beach." You became very territorial soon after arriving on White Bay and had no desire to share your space with 50-100 cruisers arriving by dinghy. Other than that (and our belief that the Villa could have used a hard scrubbing), the surroundings, people and accomodations were fabulous.
We did tons of snorkeling, island exploring by jeep, neighboring island visiting by boat, finger fishing, beach walking, hermit crab racing, rainbow watching and just plain hanging.
Purchase your groceries on St. Thomas (or Tortola) before arriving as the grocery supply was very limited and the restaurants were nothing to write home about. We hope it continues to stay as unspoiled as it is today. |

My wife and I stayed at White Bay and just fell in love with it! I've been to Tortola, St. John and a few other islands with the Navy, but this was by far the best stay I've had in the Islands.
The beach was unspoiled, the people were the frendliest and the snorkling was great! The villa was very comfortable and had everything we needed, athough we spent most of our time on the beach.
White Bay is a must for every beach lover! |

My family - my wife, two younger daughters and I - spent a week at the White Bay Villas. It was the greatest family vacation we have ever had!
The beaches and snorkeling were incredible. The Villas were beautiful and perfectly situated with a short walk to the beach. The pace of life was great, nice and slow. We took numerous hikes and enjoyed our time together with few distractions.
I would recommend the quiet and untouched White Bay to anyone who wants to enjoy a quiet and peaceful retreat. |
