Description:

Fischer's Cove is owned and run by the Flax family, who have lived on Virgin Gorda for several generations. As such, it is located on some of the most prime real estate property on the entire island, just south of Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor. The hotel looks out onto evening sunsets over the Sir Francis Drakes Channel, the main yachting site of the British Virgin Islands. This is an advantage that few other properties have.

The easiest way to arrive is to fly into Puerto Rico and then take a plane to Beef Island, Tortola. There is a ferry that is available from Trellis Bay, not far from the Beef Island Airport, that goes to Virgin Gorda. If you choose to fly into the USVI, direct ferries also operate out of St. Thomas with connecting services to Virgin Gorda. Be sure and check with the hotel before making any arrangements. They know the schedules and will arrange for you.

Fischer's Cove is located near Spanish Town and close to anyplace that you would want to visit on Virgin Gorda. Mr. Flax also owns Andy's Jeeps & Tours and can arrange for you to see just about anything.

The Baths, a famous international rock formation where snorkeling is a favorite, is only an eight minute walk. The shops in Spanish Town are equally close. The ruins of the ancient "Copper Mine" can be reached in less than fifteen minutes and the hike to Virgin Gorda's highest peak "Gorda Peak" is a short distance away.

Because of Fischer's premier location the natural beauty of the island offers healthy recreation for all ages. With its own beach and snorkeling, the entire family can have fun. There is also a playground on the premises for children. Beach volleyball is encouraged as well as other outdoor sports.

Hotel rooms are equipped with cable television, telephone, air-conditioning or ceiling fan, refrigerator and coffee maker. Cottages are built in a West Indian style and are equipped with ceiling fans and kitchenettes, including microwaves. They are tastefully decorated in tropical colors and furnishings and are surrounded by gardens that are just steps from the water's edge. There is always a tropical breeze.

Because the cottages are so close to the beach they are perfect for families who want to come and go as they choose without disturbing other guests. Some of the private patios offer spectacular ocean views and sunsets. Others have a beautiful garden setting.

The staff is friendly and offers you impeccable service with traditional hospitality from babysitting to fax services.

Dining is available at an open-air restaurant facing the ocean. At lunch conch fritters, curried goat and other island specialties are featured. At dinner you may choose from West Indian and
Continental cuisine. The restaurant has been awarded the Golden Award of Famous Restaurants International and the Grand Prix Award for Best Quality and Service. Weddings at sunset often occur at the restaurant. It's also a favorite spot for island weddings. An "All U Can Eat" buffet is featured on Tuesday and Thursday nights with live music by the best West Indian bands on the island, as well as limbo dancing.

Andy's Chateau is a separate building also located on the beach and to the south of Fischer's Cove. Here you will find an excellent restaurant, The Lobster Pot, as well as a pool table and meeting facilities. Darts are the game of the day here. You'll enjoy Steel pan music at Fischer's "Rum Barrel" bar and also at Andy's Chateau. There is also a lounge at Fischer's Cove that features custom-made furnishings and is equipped with cable television, table games, magazines and a small library.

Fischer's Cove is very informal. You will not need anything but beachwear and sundresses. Flats and beach sandals can be worn anywhere in town. Bring comfortable hiking shoes and hats.
