Better the second time around Visited: February 2004
Posted by nancyona
I stayed here in February 2002, and came back in February 2004 to spend two nights (disregard the 1969 reference that was displayed when I wrote this review, if 1969 still appears). The first trip, I felt the room was only fair (see first review with complaints). I did stay in a "cottage" (really a studio with kitchen in same room)this past winter and while not specatacular, it was a nice room. Much cleaner, brighter and with a more modern bathroom. The BVI resorts are not cheap, so if you do not want to pay $450 and up per night, Fischer's is the place for you. Spend the extra money on one of their cottages and Fischer's is a solid place from which to plan your time on the island. You need a car to get to other beaches and restaurants. I do not recommend walking at night along the road.

An excellent place - if basic. Visited: December 2003

Fischer's Cove has a nice beach, clean rooms, and wonderful people.

It's not the lap of luxury, but it doesn't try to be. It's a great place to stay.

For budget-minded, this is not a resort. Visited: February 2002

I'll start with the good points. It was convenient to town and main harbor (though a car was a must-have). Angie, at the front desk, was great, the beach was nice, and the terrace was a good place for a meal. I only had breakfast. The place also had nice landscaping for a budget-priced locale.

However, the room did not have enough light (electric kind), and there was a plumbing problem with the room next to ours (fixed within 10 hours). Also, the room towels were a bit threadbare.

We were bitten by mosquitoes because a window did not close all the way. Wear repellent with deet! Since the light was not good for reading at night, we watched television.

This was not a great place for people who want a resort. It was an inexpensive place to stay on Virgin Gorda while you spend most of your time exploring the island. It is probably best for those on a budget on what is a generally expensive island.

It was nice. Visited: July 2001

It was like going back to the 1950s.

The food and the service were good. The beach was okay.

We stayed there because we had friends who were on a boat. If not, it would have been a total bore.
